The Greater Smoky Mountain Area Local #263 (Knoxville) is pleased to
announce that the 2010 TPWU State Convention will convene May 20-22,
2010 at the River Terrace Resort and Convention Center in Gatlinburg,
Tennessee. The River Terrace Resort is located on River Road, immediately
adjacent to the Ripley's Aquarium.
We were able to negotiate a low room rate of $55.00 plus tax per night, or you can upgrade to a Jacuzzi suite or Townhouse for only $65.00 plus tax. All rooms have been upgraded within the past 3 years. To accommodate those of you that may wish to come earlier or stay after the convention, these rates will be honored for up to three days before and/or three days after our event dates. The phone number for reservations is 800-251-2040. In order to insure you get our group rate, be sure to tell them you are with the Tennessee Postal Workers Union group. Free parking is provided for all guests. All rooms are non-smoking, but smoking is allowed on the balconies (all rooms have balconies). The resort has a good restaurant with reasonable prices, and serves breakfast ($6.95 buffet), lunch and dinner. There are also numerous shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. There is an indoor water park located nearby at Westgate Resorts available for only $10 per day, and a trolley to Westgate Resorts will be available from the River Terrace resort. We will have a certified pre-K teacher on site during the entire convention to supervise activities for kids, and a pizza party will be provided for kids during the banquet.
We look forward to hosting the 2010 convention and our fellow union
brothers and sisters from across the state, as well as our national officers and
special guests. We hope to have a good turnout and we will do our best to
